Denver Broncos RB Damien Nash Collapses and Dies

I've just read a report by St. Louis CBS4's Gary Miller reporting that Damien Nash of the Denver Broncos has collapsed dead at a charity basketball game in St. Louis. It is official, the Denver Broncos have confirmed this report.

Nash was only 24 years old.

President/CEO of the Broncos Pat Bowlen has said, "The Denver Broncos organization is once again struck with profound sadness over the tragic loss of one of our players. This is a tremendous tragedy and our hearts go out to the entire Nash family." (Quoted from DenverBroncos.com)

"The Broncos Family has suffered a great loss with the passing of Damien Nash," Head Coach Mike Shanahan said. "I am stunned and deeply saddened by this tragedy, and send my deepest condolences to Damien's family." (Quoted from DenverBroncos.com)

During injuries and running back shuffles in the 2006 season, Damien Nash saw action in three games. He was a former player of the University of Missouri and was claimed off waivers from the Tennesse Titans. Starting out as a member of the practice squad he was later promoted to roster and played in matchups against the Raiders, Chargers, and Chiefs.

At this time, no cause for the collapse has been released. CBS4's Gary Miller reported that Officials at Christian Hospital in St. Louis have not yet determined the cause of death. Nash died early Saturday evening.
